OPERATIONS MANAGER

 

The Deshka Landing Outdoor Association (DLOA) is seeking a highly motivated self starter to manage its office, parking, and launch facilities.  The DLOA is located in the beautiful Matsu Valley off the Parks Highway in Willow Alaska.  Its mission is to provide year round excellent access to the Lower-Sustina drainage, while offering responsible customer service, habitat/environmental protection, and financial stability for its members.  For further information about our operations, please go to our web site at:  www.deshkalanding.com.

 

Duties:  Provides overall oversight and management of the DLOA facilities.  Prepares and executes the DLOA operating budget.  Ensures facility maintenance, repair, security, and safety.  Responsible for hiring permanent and seasonal staff, providing work assignments, evaluating work, and recommending personnel actions. Performs office administration tasks which include entering data into various automated information software; maintaining insurance and other records; and obtaining supplies and retail items for resale.  Performs financial tasks which include counting daily cash receipts and making bank deposits; payables and receivables; maintaining appropriate records. Serves as a community liaison and works with private and public organizations.  Provides information to users regarding DLOA activities; launch, river fishing, trail, and weather conditions; directions; accommodations; and other information.  Stocks and sells retail items such as clothing (DLOA), frozen food, drinks, over the counter medicines, bait and fishing supplies, gas, and propane.  Also, responsible for issuing daily, seasonal, annual, and commercial passes.

 

Qualifications:  We are looking for a candidate who has experience in managing a recreational or other facility and must demonstrate the ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fluid environment.  In addition, Candidates must have experience in:

(1) Preparing and executing a budget for an organization applying sound business accounting practices:

(2) Planning and carrying out projects;

 (3) Carrying out administrative and supervisory functions;

(4) Preparing written reports;

(5) Interacting positively with customers and owners to provide information and to resolve problems;

(6) Selling retail items; and  

(6) Working with financial software applications and data entry. 

 

Candidates will be rated on the following Knowledges, Skills, & Abilities (KSA’s).  Please respond to the following in addition to your resume.   Include where you obtained this experience.

1. Demonstrated ability to oversee and manage organizational operations. Describe your experience in managing an organization

2. Knowledge of budget preparation, business accounting principles, and financial software applications:  Describe your experience in preparing, tracking, and executing an operating budget for an organization using business accounting practices and types of financial software applied.

3. Customer Service and interpersonal skills:  Describe specific examples that demonstrate your skill in providing customer service and interpersonal relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and/or employees.

4. Knowledge of project management:  Give specific examples of projects and what you accomplished.

5. Knowledge of supervision and human resource management practices.  Describe your supervisory experience.

6. Oral and written communication skills:  Describe your experience making oral presentations and preparing written documents. 

7. Knowledge of information technology applications.  Describe your experience in applying information technology to work processes.

Compensation

Salary:  $35,568-$52,000 per annum depending on experience & benefits

Full use of all the DLOA facilities

Other Information

Living facilities are available for rent.  Living on-site is optional.
